Minicoy, which is located around 200 kilometres south of the northern group of islands, is sort of cut off from the main group of islands. It is the second-largest island after Andrott and is 10.6 kilometres long. One of the largest lagoons is found near Minicoy, and on its southern side is the small, uninhabited islet of Viringili.
