Betaab Valley

Betaab Valley got the deserved appreciation and fame after the hit bollywood movie, Betaab starring Amrita Singh and Sunny Deol was shot here. The valley is at a short distance of 15 kilometres from Pahalgam. It is also a famous base camp for man treks and a lovely camping spot. Previously called Hagoon Valley, the valley with its lush meadows and mountains in the backdrop is every photographer’s delight. The Lidder river runs through it where you can enjoy river rafting and fishing.

The panoramas here are dotted with deodar and pine trees and colourful wildflowers bloom to the core here. If you are on the sacred pilgrimage to Amarnath Yatra, this valley falls right in the way. You have to pay a minimal fee of Rupees 100 to enter the valley. Summer, from April to July, is the best time for sightseeing in Betaab Valley due to clear views and soothing surroundings. Autumn is an excellent choice for photography.

Aru Valley

Aru Valley is the base camp for famous and arguably the most beautiful trek, Tarsar Marsar Trek and also Kolahoi Glacier. It is also a camping spot where you can acclimatise before going up to high-altitude regions. The location of the valley is in Anantnag District.

Somewhere 12 kilometres from Pahalgam. Aru river is the ultimate highlight of this valley where you can enjoy fishing and river rafting. Some other activities to do would be a horse ride and picnics in the landscapes where there is greenery as far as the eyes can see.

Generally summer is the most convenient time to visit Aru Valley and explore the nearby places. However, to enjoy skiing and heli skiing, plan the trip in winters when the whole place is covered in snow. There are great ski slopes in the valley. To enter the valley, you have to pay a negligible fee of Rupees 25.

Yusmarg

Located at an altitude of about 7,861ft. In the Budgam district of Kashmir, Yusmarg is considered to be the place Jesus once lived. And so is the name “ Meadow of Jesus”.

The place serves as pastoral lands for cattles and you will come across them often.

The main place to visit is Doodh Ganga, named like that because the water appears milky. It serves as a starting point for many trekking trails.
