History of Chashme Shahi Garden
The spring that serves as the foundation for Chashme Shahi gave rise to its name. Rupa Bhawani was credited with founding the spring. One of Kashmir’s most well-known female saints, she is a member of the “Sahib Clan,” where “Sahib” refers to her family name. According to Shah Jahan’s instructions, the garden was constructed in 1632 AD by the Mughal Governor at the time, Ali Mardan Khan, as a gift for his older son, Prince Dara Shikoh. The Price used “Pari Mahal” or the Fairy Palace, which is located on the east end of the garden, to study astrology. This is also the same spot where Dara Shikoh was killed by his younger brother Emperor Aurangzeb in 1659.
Architecture of Chashme Shahi Garden
