Do and don’ts in Amarnath Yatra Trip
To ensure that the yatra proceeds smoothly and without any hiccups, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has supplied the pilgrims with a list of Dos and Don’ts by Swastik Holiday below:
Do’s for the Amarnath Yatris
Woolen clothes
All Candidates are urged to bring enough wool clothing because the weather is erratic and can suddenly drop below 5 degrees Celsius.
Water proof bag
It is usually preferable to keep all of your necessities in a water-resistant bag to prevent getting them wet.
Protection of rain
The pilgrims should also carry anything that will shield them from wind and rain, such as a windcheater, an umbrella, and waterproof shoes.
Address note
All pilgrims are required to carry a note with their name, address, and phone number along with the time of the yatra for emergency purposes, preferably in their front pocket or handbag.
Identity card
You should also carry an identity proof card, such as a driver’s licence, yatra permit, or another kind of identification.
Always remain in group
Travel with a group at all times to be safe. Ensure that everyone you know is travelling at the same time as you and is in your line of sight.
Leave base camp in a group
Leave the base camp with your group and start the journey back.
Police case
In the event that one of your group members goes missing, call the police right away. Making a statement over the Yatra Camp’s Public Address System is another option.
Sharing and helping
Always lend a hand to other yatris in need.
Follow instructions
All yatris are required to adhere to all directions given by the Yatra Administration exactly as they are announced.
Control room
The SASB Camp Directors and Yatra control centres at regular intervals can be contacted right away for any type of help, accidents, or emergencies. Various locations also have Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs).
Punctuality
The Domel and Chandanwari access control rooms are open from 5 am until 11 am. Always arrive at the gates on time. After the gate closes, no yatris will be permitted to make the pilgrimage.
Langar
In the entire yatra area, langars also provide complimentary food to pilgrims.
Don’ts for the Amarnath Yatris
Sarees not allowed
Sarees are not recommended for female yatris since they make it more difficult to ascend. Instead, they ought to dress comfortably in track suits, shirt-pants, or salwar kurtas.
Pregnant women not allowed
The trip is not permitted for pregnant women who are more than six weeks along.
Young children and old people not allowed
Pregnant women, those over 75, and children under 13 are not permitted to participate in the yatra.
Warning notices
Staying close to sites that have warning signs for hazard is not advised.
No slippers
Slippers are not recommended because they become quite unpleasant when walking on the trek’s steep ascents and descents. You also can’t go barefoot.
No short cuts
The path doesn’t offer any shortcuts. So never try to take a shortcut on your own.
Do not pollute
Protect the ecology and don’t pollute the yatra area. Bring no plastic bags with you at all. In J&K, this is a criminal offense.
Do not make noise
Do not talk loudly or make unnecessary noise so as to annoy other passengers.
Do not throw coins
When receiving Darshan at the Amarnath Cave, you are not permitted to toss cash, coins, ornate chunnis, or metal pots in the direction of the Shivlingam.
Do not stay overnight
Due to the cave’s high altitude and erratic weather, overnight stays are not permitted there.
Do not go for darshan after 3 pm
