Recommended Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival at Paro to Thimphu

Our agent will meet you at the Paro airport and drive you to Thimphu. Visit the Iron Bridge, which was constructed in the fourteenth century by the famous Tibetan iron bridge builder Thangthong Gyalbo. Hotel Refreshments and check-in. Drive to Sangaygang View Point afterwards for a comprehensive view of Bhutan's capital city, and then go to Takin Reserve Centre to see the country's national animal. Visit Tashichhodzong, the country's capital stronghold, in the afternoon. Dinner and a hotel stay the following day.

Day 02 Thimphu Sightseeing

Early in the morning, go bird viewing at Tango Cheri Base. Later, head to Memorial Chorten, a temple constructed in 1974 in honour of Bhutan's third king. Visit the recently constructed 51-meter-tall Buddha statue next, which is facing east and offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Thimphu. Check see Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the valley's oldest temples, and then spend some time at the weekend market (held on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Visit the Handmade Paper Mill, Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, and School of Arts & Crafts where students learn 13 various arts that are mostly employed in Bhutan. Dinner and a hotel stay the following day.

Day 03 Thimphu to Punakha

Afterwards, head towards Punakha. If the weather is suitable, travellers can enjoy a breathtaking view and take pictures of some of Bhutan's tallest mountain peaks at the Dochula Pass, which is located at 3100 metres. The view spans about 180 degrees. Take a stroll around the newly constructed 108 stupas before continuing on to Punakha, a subtropical valley. The drive offers stunning scenery. Before checking into the hotel, take a walk through a paddy field to Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple associated with the phallic symbol of religion. You will be taking numerous photos of this subject that are displayed at the entrances of most Bhutanese homes. Visit PunakhaDzong, which is regarded as the nation's most beautiful stronghold, after that. All around the Dzong, you'll love snapping shots from any angle.

Day 04 Punakha to Gangtey Valley

Drive to the scenic Phobjikha valley after breakfast. This bowl-shaped, tranquil glacial valley is where the endangered black-necked cranes spend the winters when migrating to Bhutan from October through February. Visit Gangtey Monastery, a beautifully restored monastery that offers stunning artwork and architecture to visitors. Enjoy the 1.5-hour nature trek through the village that leads to the temple known as Khewalhakhang.

Day 05 Gangtey Valley to Paro

Start your return trip to Paro early. Visit the National Museum in Paro, the first of its kind, which houses a variety of works ranging from religious art to natural history. On foot, explore the ParoDzong (Fortress) from the 17th century and proceed across the oldest wooden bridge still in use.

Wander through some of the local handcraft shops in the evening. For dinner, one can also dare to visit a nearby eatery.

Day 06 Paro to Haa Via Chelela Pass (Day Excursion)

Bird viewing in the early morning while travelling to Haa Valley (65 km from Paro) over Chelela Pass. Haa Valley is one of Bhutan's most remote valleys and is perfect for mountain biking and hiking. At 3988m, Chelela Pass is the journey's highest point. The drive to Chelela from Paro is very appealing, with a wide variety of plants and animals to see along the way. When the weather is right, one can also see Mount Jomolhari, the tallest mountain in the nation at 7314 metres. Afternoon free time in the city.

Day 07 Paro (Hike to Tiger’s Nest)

After breakfast, take a 25-minute drive to the temple's base camp to begin your walk to the Tiger's Nest complex, the most venerated temple in the nation that literally hangs from a granite cliff overlooking the Paro valley. Visit the nation's oldest temple, Kitchu Lhakhang, built in the 7th century by the first dharma raja of Tibet, after the walk.

Day 08 Departure

Travel to the airport so you can catch your flight. At the airport, a member of our tour team will bid you farewell.
