Upon your early morning arrival at Guwahati Airport, around eight o'clock, we will pick you up and embark on a scenic drive directly to Dirang. The journey takes us through the picturesque foothills of the Himalayan range, covering 390 kilometers in approximately nine hours. We will make brief stops for refreshments and to enjoy the scenic views along the way. By 5:00 PM, we will reach Dirang, a stunning valley known for its hot springs, ancient Tibetan buildings, the monastery, and Dirang Dzong. After checking into your hotel, you can take a leisurely stroll through the local market and soak in the breathtaking scenery. Dinner and an overnight stay at Dirang will conclude your day.
After breakfast and checking out from the hotel, we will start with a tour of the beautiful Dirang Valley, known for its lush fruit orchards. Following this, we will set out for Tawang, a journey that takes us through some of the most scenic and rugged terrain of the Himalayan mountain range. En route, we will stop for a quick lunch and then continue our drive through the majestic Sela Pass, one of Northeast India's highest motorable passes at 13,700 feet, often shrouded in fog with its challenging, mountainous roads. On the way, we will visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial and the Nuranang Waterfalls. Arriving in Tawang in the evening, you will have the chance to explore the hillside villages. We will then check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel before setting off for a full day of sightseeing in and around Tawang. Our first stop will be Shonga-tser Lake (also known as Madhuri Lake), a breathtaking site surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Next, we will proceed to Bum La Pass, located at an altitude of 15,200 feet and close to the Indo-Chinese border. This excursion requires Indian Army clearance and a local taxi hire. On the return journey, we will visit Heart Lake, PTSO Lake, and Naghula Lake. Back in Tawang, we will explore more local attractions, including the Tawang Monastery, the birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama, and the Tawang War Memorial, which features an evening light and sound show. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in Tawang.
After breakfast, we will start another day of sightseeing with a visit to Shonga-tser Lake to enjoy its stunning views of the valley and snow-capped mountains. We will then head towards Bum La Pass, an optional activity that requires hiring a local taxi and obtaining road clearance from the Indian Army. On the way back, stops at Heart Lake, PTSO Lake, and Naghula Lake are sure to brighten your day. After completing these visits, we will return to the hotel in Tawang for a relaxing evening and an overnight stay.
After breakfast and hotel check-out, we will drive you directly to Bomdila. This scenic drive of about 190 kilometers will take approximately eight hours. Upon arrival, we will check into your hotel before embarking on a tour of the local landmarks. You can visit the Buddhist Monasteries and the Craft Center, followed by a visit to the local market in the evening. After exploring Bomdila, we will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
We will depart for Guwahati early in the morning, between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. The journey will cover 350 kilometers and take around eight hours. Upon arrival in Guwahati, we will drop you off at the airport in the evening, ensuring you have plenty of time for your scheduled flight. This marks the end of your memorable tour, leaving you with wonderful memories of Northeast India.
